Professional leak detection in Manchester
A hidden water leak can cause thousands of pounds of structural damage before you even notice it. Rising damp, mould growth, damaged flooring, and weakened plasterwork are all common consequences of undetected leaks. The sooner a leak is found, the less damage it causes — and modern detection technology means we rarely need to open up walls or dig up floors to find it.
Our engineers use a combination of acoustic listening equipment, thermal imaging cameras, and tracer gas technology to pinpoint leaks to within a few centimetres. We'll tell you exactly where the problem is before any repair work begins.
Signs you may have a hidden leak
- Your water bill has increased without explanation
- Damp patches appearing on walls, ceilings, or floors
- You can hear running water when all taps are off
- Water pressure has dropped across the property
- Cold or warm spots on floors with underfloor heating
- Mould or mildew appearing on interior walls
- Subsidence or soft ground in the garden near the supply pipe
Our leak detection technology
Acoustic listening devices — Highly sensitive microphones pick up the sound of water escaping from pressurised pipes, even through concrete slabs and tiled floors.
Thermal imaging cameras — Temperature differentials caused by leaking water show up clearly on thermal imaging, making them particularly effective for finding leaks behind plasterboard and under screed floors.
Tracer gas — A safe, non-toxic hydrogen/nitrogen mixture is pumped into the pipe. Where gas escapes, sensors on the surface detect it precisely — accurate to within centimetres even on buried pipes under driveways and patios.
After detection — repair
Once we've located your leak, we'll provide a written report and fixed-price quote for the repair. In most cases we can carry out the repair on the same visit. We always aim to restore your property to its original condition and minimise disruption.
